The newly announced changes to production aim to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and also lower the price point of the hangers for the guitarist.
With the priority of convenience over long-term impact, the use of single-use plastics is commonplace, and packaging is a prime example of unnecessary waste. Half of the plastic produced each year is for single-use packaging, which results in 150 million tons of waste each year.
Although Woodie’s Hangers are, technically, single-use plastic, they will hang a guitar for a lifetime, and that promise has been kept by the company for over ten years. That said, the team at Woodie’s are committed to making changes which will benefit the guitarist and the environment and changes to the packaging and manufacture process have been made.
The new packaging will see a new ‘kraft bag’ replacing the old plastic bubble pack, with fixing instructions exclusively online. Options for the buyer to purchase the brackets without additional fixings are also available, for the guitarist will a box of screws already in the garage (they all have them).
All models of Woodie’s Hanger will be repackaged over the future months, including the guitar hangers for Les Paul style, with angled headstock; the fender style for single-cut guitars and the Hanger 3 for GS style with strap buttons on the back.
The polycarbonate used in the hangers is under review, with a shift to recycled polycarbonate under constant review. Woodie’s Guitar Hangers will keep the current material, which hangs the guitar at any angle, safely, for the time being, until options become available for a recycled model.
